Rebecca "Becky" Mjelde was born March 12, 1959, in Seattle, WA, to Vernon and Norma (Torgerson) Mjelde.
The family moved to Moorhead, MN, when "Becky" was two years of age. She graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School, Fargo, ND, in 1978, and then received a legal secretary degree from Interstate Business College, in Fargo. "Becky" married Clayton Smeltzer on August 4, 2000, in Fargo.
"Becky" worked as a waitress for a time in the Fargo-Moorhead area. She was also an Avon representative for many years. "Becky" was active in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
"Becky" died peacefully, in the presence of her family, Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in her home under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
"Becky" is survived by her husband, Clayton Smeltzer, Moorhead, and his children; step-grandson, Kobe Smeltzer, at home; mother, Norma Mjelde, Moorhead; sisters, Shanna (Bob) Mjelde-Vanlaningham, Fargo, and Cynthia (Gary) Nolte, Moorhead; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon; grandparents, and her precious dog, Samie Jo.
The Memorial Service for 'Becky' will be Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 2 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 210 - 7th St. S., Moorhead.
Visitation will be at the church after 1 PM.
