Regina Smith

Regina M. Smith, 84, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, in Villa St. Vincent, in Crookston, MN.

Regina Margaret Laumeyer, daughter of John and Theresa (Walters) Laumeyer, was born January 3, 1931, in Greenwald, MN. On November 27, 1950, she married Wesley H. Smith, in Long Prairie, MN. They lived in a number of Minnesota communities. In 1957, they made their home in Glyndon, MN, and in 1984, they moved to Dilworth, MN.

Wesley died on April 19, 1996. Regina continued to live in Dilworth until 2009, when she moved first to Fargo, ND, and later to Moorhead.

Regina was a lady of deep faith, who was active in her parish. She was an outstanding housekeeper and gardener. She was a terrific cook and baker. Her family loved her lemon meringue pie, her marshmallow brownies, and her other tasty baked treats. She was a good mother and grandmother, who enjoyed playing games, cards, and puzzles with her family and friends. And, she will always be remembered for the long walks she so often took.

Regina is survived by four sons, Marvin (Gloria) Smith, Davenport, ND, Arvin (Ruth) Smith, Glyndon, Ronald (Jean) Smith, Silver City, NM, and Gerald (Becky) Smith, Angus, MN; a sister, Rita Tolifson; a brother, Tony (Loretta) Laumeyer; granddaughters, Darlene (Tim) Lindsey, Amy (Kevin) Hanson, Tammy (Eric) Rogers, Nikki (Travis) Hatzenbeller, Jodi (Lloyd) Hunter, Ashley (Jeremiah) Otteson, and Amanda (Lucas) Rengstorf; grandsons, Eric, Brian, and Joshua Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; grandson, Lyle Cockerill; great-granddaughter, Isabella Rogers; sisters, Katherine Uhlenhamp, Marie Lardy, and Margaret Wolbeck; and brothers, Hubert, Ben, Henry, Alcuin, and George, Laumeyer.
