Reynard Lyngby

August 2, 1918 — July 17, 2005

Reynard Lyngby was born August 2, 1918 in Hannaford, ND, where he grew up and received his education. In 1939, he moved to Moorhead, MN, where he was united in marriage to Marlyn Fogderud on Feb. 21, 1942.


Rey served his country in the US Army Air Force. He was stationed in Great Britian during WW II. After his discharge, he returned to Moorhead.

Rey worked for Corwin-Churchill Auto dealership, and at a local Texaco oil station. In 1955, he started Rey's Standard Service station in downtown Moorhead. He later built a new station at highway 75 and I-94. He sold the service station in 1975. From 1975 until 1978, Rey owned and operated the KOA campground in Moorhead. He sold the campground and retired in 1978. Rey was a life member of the Moorhead V.F.W., and a member of the Fargo (ND) Eagles. Rey also was a "Circle 8" square dance caller for many years.


Rey and Marlyn made their home in Fargo for a number of years. They also wintered in Mesa, AZ, for many years, and since 1988, lived solely in Arizona.


Rey died in Mesa on July 17, 2005, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Karen Lyngby; a brother, Ingvald; and a sister, Emelia Jahr.


Rey is survived by his wife, Marlyn, Mesa, AZ; five children, Jarilyn (Larry) Johnson, Horicon, WI, Larry Lyngby, Glennallen, AK, Steven Lyngby, Pelican Rapids, MN, Nancy Lyngby, Marana, AZ, and Brian (Mary) Lyngby, Mesa; brother, Carl (Bessie) Lyngby, Grand Forks, ND; sister, Myrtle Corneliussen, Grand Forks; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.


Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association.


Memorial service: Friday, August 26, 2005, at 2 PM in the
Christian Life Center of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.



Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
