Richard Blaine Wright, the only child of Blaine and Doris (York) Wright, was born February 13, 1943, in Fargo, ND. Dick grew up in Dilworth, MN, where he attended school and graduated from high school. As a young man he was active in sports, playing both football and basketball.
Dick made his home in Moorhead and went to work for the Northern Pacific Railway, which later became the Burlington Northern. He was a train brakeman and conductor. He retired from the BN in April of 1996.
Richard was married in 1962 to Mary Chloupek. They were later divorced. He was a longtime member of the Elks Club and had been a Shriner.
Dick especially enjoyed the time he spent at his lake home on Lake Melissa, near Detroit Lakes, MN. Dick loved country music and was never without a radio playing, especially when he was cooking. The more people he could cook for, the happier he was.
After suffering a brain aneurism in July of 2014, he was a resident of River Pointe Assisted Living in Moorhead, MN, and had recently been a resident of Bethany on 42nd, in Fargo. Dick died at Bethany on 42nd, on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at the age of 77.
Dick is survived by his two daughters, Tricia, (husband, Jeff) Garry, of Dell Rapids, SD, and Nina, (husband, John) Adams, of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family graveside service for Richard will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
