Richard D. Gaffney, 61, Moorhead, MN, died Monday, August 30, 2004, in his home.
Richard Donald Gaffney was born January 4, 1943, in Valley City, ND, to Donald and Lucille (Sauer) Gaffney. The family moved to Fargo, ND, when he was very young and he attended St. Mary's Parochial School. Richard graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1962.
Richard entered the US Navy January 7, 1963, and served in Cuba. He was discharged December 27, 1966, and returned to Fargo at that time. Richard worked as a glazier for Modern Auto Glass and then for Fargo Glass & Paint Company for over twenty-three years. He also worked for Dakota Plate Glass, Inc., Fargo.
Richard was married to Karen Pfeifer, in Hawley, MN, in 1974.
Richard is survived by his three sons, Rick, Montrose, CO, Jason, Fargo, and Steve (fiancée, Megan Schlener), Fargo; one brother, Patrick (Rose), Detroit Lakes, MN; and four sisters, Cecilia Piper, St. Michael, MN, Mary Gaffney and Jennifer (Roger) Stein, both Fargo, and Kathleen (Larry) Helgeson, West Fargo, ND.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, John.
