Richard "Dick" Evanson, 79, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, November 3, 2014, in Moorhead.
Richard Dale Evanson was born June 9, 1935, the son of Iver C. and Helen (Stevening) Evanson in Hatton, ND. As a young man he moved with his family to Fargo, ND, where he graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1953. As a young boy and during his high school years, Dick delivered newspapers for the Fargo Forum. After graduation he went to work for Refrigeration Supply.
On October 1, 1955, he was united in marriage to Karen Arnseth in Ada, MN. They made their home in Moorhead where he continued to work for Refrigeration Supply, now National Temperature Control, for fifty years, retiring in management.
He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Dick enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. He loved to spend time at his lake home on Lake Maud. One of Dick's gifts was being a handyman that could fix just about anything. He will be remembered as a wonderful provider and for taking very good care of his family.
Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen; children, Vicki Lee Hanson, Prescott Valley, AZ, Richard Carl Evanson, Wahpeton, ND, and Mark Robert Evanson, Moorhead; sisters, JoAnn Schulz and Delphine Neubauer, both Fargo; brother, Wally (Darlene) Evanson, Brainerd, MN; brother-in-law, Roger (Mary) Arnseth, Golden Valley, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary; and son-in-law, Robert C. Hanson.
A visitation for Dick will be Tuesday from 5 PM until 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral service will be Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 2 PM, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
