Richard Herrig

Richard Leo Herrig was born January 25, 1943, in Fulda, MN, to Leo and Frieda (Pollack) Herrig.  When Dick was a teenager, the family moved to Graceville, MN, where his family farmed. 

Dick met Irene Wohlers at Graceville High School and they married May 2, 1964, in Barry, MN, and they were married fifty-seven years until her death on January 7, 2022.  They had four daughters, Anita, Annette, Peggy and Patricia. 

Dick and Irene made their home in Moorhead, MN, where Dick worked for the Moorhead Public Library, as a bookmobile driver, for twenty-five years.  After retiring, Dick kept busy as an attendant for the Fargo Parking Authority. 

Dick and Irene built a new home in 2006, which they loved.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and traveling with family and friends.  Dick died Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Lilac Homes, Moorhead, surrounded by his family and friends and under hospice care.

He is survived by his daughters, Anita (Steve) Weaver, Peggy (Doug) Young, and Patricia (Ron) Heid; five grandchildren, Shane Weaver, Stephany Weaver, Andrew (Taylor) Young, Alexyss (Brian) Rogers, and Sheridan (Brendan) Mount; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Brian and Alice Rogers. 

In addition to his wife, Irene, Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Annette.

Visitation for Dick will begin at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
