Robert "Bob" L. Olson

Robert "Bob" Olson, 67, of Barnesville, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, July 27, 2015, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Robert Leroy Olson was born September 27, 1947, the son of Olaf and Mary (Johnson) Olson, in Moorhead. He was raised here attending St. Joseph's School and graduated Moorhead High School. During high school, Robert was very active in basketball and baseball. He then attended Dakota Business College in Fargo.
On August 2, 1969, he was united in marriage to Sandy Swenson in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead. They made their home in Fergus Falls where he worked for Sherwin-Williams and served as an American Legion baseball coach for a couple of years. In 1976, he began working for Ostlund Chemical (now Con-Agra) in Fargo and, later that year, moved his family to Moorhead. He retired in 2002 and moved to Barnesville in 2014.
Robert was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. During his adult years he continued in athletics, playing softball for many years and coaching at times. He was an avid Moorhead Spuds, Vikings and Twins fan. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and visiting with neighbors and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandy; daughters, Debbie Erickson, Barnesville, and Julie (Dan) Schoenecker, Sabin, MN; grandchildren, Cassie, Courtney, Connor, and Chloe Erickson, Ashley, Stanley, and Emily Schoenecker; sisters, Yvonne Toutant, Fargo, and Loretta (Richard) LeSage, Ponsford, MN; brother-in-law: Marshall (Carol) Swenson, Rapid City, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ronald and Donald.
A Visitation for Robert will be Sunday from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His Memorial Mass will be Monday, August 3, 2015, at 11 AM in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial for Robert will take place in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.
