Robert Fisher

Robert "Bob" Byron Fisher, 74, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at his home in rural Moorhead, MN.

Robert was born to Ralph and Ann (Carlson) Fisher on November 17, 1939, in Crookston, MN. He grew up and attended school in Lockhart, MN. Robert proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November, 1961. He was united in marriage to Joan M. Fournier, from rural Red Lake Falls, MN, on January 26, 1963, in Terrebonne, MN, and they lived in North Carolina where their first daughter was born. Robert was discharged from the Marine Corps in October, 1964.

They moved to Moorhead where Robert began working with his father in carpentry. In 1969, Robert established his construction company, Fisher Construction, and soon after built a home for his wife and five daughters in rural Moorhead. He spent forty-five years doing what he loved, building locally and across several states until he retired in 2004.

Robert was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling, planting trees, working with his hands and spending time with his family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Joan; his five daughters, Cindy (Lee) Peterson, Lake Park, MN, Kathy Gartner (Jeff Overbo), Kragnes, MN, Renee (Erik) Evans, Fargo, ND, Lisa Fisher, Fargo, and Cheryl Arauza (Dale Grandbois), Kragnes; eight grandchildren, Sherita Gartner, Jessi Evans, Vincent Evans, McKaylee Evans, Brittney Peterson, Brennen Fisher, Kara Overbo, and Kendra Peterson; and one great-grandson, Quinton Evans.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joanne Erickson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

The funeral will be Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 10:30 AM, at Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Fairview Cemetery, Beltrami, MN.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful, compassionate care that they provided to Robert.
