Robert H. Ostgarden

Robert Hilmer Ostgarden was born July 2, 1928, near McIntosh, MN, to Edward and Julia (Johnson) Ostgarden. Robert was raised in McIntosh where he graduated from high school in 1948.

He served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952, and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, Robert made his home in Grand Rapids, MN, where he worked as a shoe salesman for Stenberg Shoes.

Robert moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1964, and worked for R & G Bootery, Fargo, ND. He moved to Grand Forks, ND, in 1974, where he continued in shoe sales until he retired and returned to Moorhead.

Robert entered Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, in December of 2016, where he died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at eighty-nine years of age.

Robert enjoyed country and gospel music, loved to dance, and was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins. He helped care for his mother for many years, until her death.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families; and a sister-in-law, Betty Ostgarden. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Vivian, Edna, Irene and Florence; and three brothers, Orville, Edward, and Floyd.

Visitation for Robert will be from 10 to 11 AM, with a funeral at 11 AM, Saturday, August 19, 2017, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Burial will be in New Sweden Cemetery, McIntosh.
