Robert J. Thielbar, 76, Fargo, ND, died Monday, September 27, 2010, in Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Robert John Thielbar was born January 20, 1934, in Olga, ND, to John and Elizabeth (Monette) Thielbar. He attended elementary school in Olga and high school in Crystal, ND. As a young man Robert worked as a farm hand before enlisting in the US Navy in 1951. Robert was honorably discharged in 1954.
On February 10, 1966, Robert married Myrtle Eide in Langdon, ND. They lived in Crystal and eventually moved to Dilworth, MN, and then Moorhead, MN. Robert worked as a truck driver for Allis Chalmers and Reiten Equipment. He also worked as a farm hand for Dennis Meyer and Offutt Farms and as a warehouse manager for Friggstad Dist.
Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing games with the kids, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.
Robert is survived by his eight children, Jolene (Steve) Ketchmark, Robert Thielbar Jr, Lonnie Thielbar, Doug (Debbie) Thielbar, Karianne Thielbar, Jeanette (Tim Hennen) Thielbar, Mark (Lori) Thielbar, and Barbara (Rhea Goss) Thielbar; fifteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his special friend, Betty Anderson.
The Memorial Service for Robert will be on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 3 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
