Robert Loe

November 20, 1946 — January 26, 2012

Robert "Bob" Loe, 65, completed his Earthly journey on October 26, 2012, surrounded by family and close friends, in his long anticipated and newly finished "man cave."
Bob was born on November 20, 1946, in Fargo, ND, to Alfred and Margaret (Finke) Loe. Bob grew up on the Loe Farm near Perley, MN, and graduated from Hendrum (MN) High School in 1964, where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. Upon graduating, Bob immediately enlisted in the United States Navy, serving 4 years working on the flight deck, as part of the submarine hunter killer group, and as an airplane power plant mechanic. Upon his return from serving, Bob worked for a short time at Anderson Pontiac, and then for a short time at McLaughlin's RV. Bob furthered his experience working for Larry's Transmission until 1974, when he took a leap of faith, and became self-employed, starting what would become his professional legacy, Bob's Repair.
On June 7, 1969, he was united in marriage with Margaret "Mugs" Rector in Ada, MN. They made their home in Moorhead for a time, when Bob began his 20-year stock car racing career, spending Friday nights at Red River Valley Speedway making many close, life-long friends. On March 4, 1972, they welcomed the first of two children, son Christopher. They purchased their first home in 1973, located in Dilworth, MN, and on July 7, 1976, welcomed their second child, daughter Chantale.

Bob was well known in his community for his love of cars, auto racing, and his ability to build or create just about anything, from drum risers to oil paintings. Bob was hard working, dedicated, and a supportive family man, who would drop anything to come to the aid of his family or friends. Anyone he encountered was made well aware in a short time of the love he had for his family, and very specifically his children and his grandchildren. He enjoyed the simple things in life, but by no measure was a simple man. Bob was a member of several car clubs in the area and took great pleasure in showing his beloved 1950 Mercury, more recently his 1960 Ford Starliner, and never once came home from a show without a trophy. Bob loved watching NASCAR races in his massage chair, his wife's homemade meals, snowmobiling with his friends, nursing his sweet tooth, spending his weekends tinkering at his shop, going on movie "date" nights with his daughter, golfing with his son, and cherished deeply any time spent with his grandchildren. You would be hard pressed to watch one of his son's bands play throughout the years and not find Bob among the audience members, sometimes traveling several hours to attend. Bob gained notoriety among local musicians based on the equipment he built for Chris' bands over the years. It was clearly apparent to all that he took great pride in his attention to detail and his need to achieve perfection in all aspects of his daily work.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mugs; his son, Christopher (Andrea) Loe; daughter, Chantale Loe; grandson, Zian Loe; granddaughter, Mylee Loe; and two sisters, Margaret (Gene) Brickman and Helen Loe. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Alfred and Margaret Loe; sisters, Janice Loe and Alice (Lyle) Peterson; and brother, Alan (Kaye) Loe.
