Robert "Bob" Thiel, 74, of Moorhead, MN, passed on to his reward Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his son's home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Robert Wayne Thiel was born April 19, 1938, in Barney, ND, the son of Carl and Audrey (Gabriel) Thiel. He was raised in Barney and graduated from Wyndmere (ND) High School. After graduation he went to work for Western Electric (now AT &T).
On September 19, 1959, Bob was united in marriage to Luella Bachmeier in Tintah, MN. They lived in various places while Bob was working at Western Electric before settling in Moorhead in 1968. He retired from Western Electric in 1993 and continued to make his home in Moorhead.
Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and days at the lakes. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sister, Carla (Roy) Lekang of Oakdale, MN; the mother of his children, Luella Thiel of Fargo; his children, Brenda Knudson of Fargo, ND, Linnea (Nick) Davella of Trinity, FL, Rebecca (Bruce) Douglas of Bellvue, CO, and Duane Thiel of Moorhead; his partner, Roberta "Bobbie" Benson of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Joshua, Jason, Jared, Alex, Katie, Robert, Aneece and Merrick; and a newly born great-grandchild, Gage Robert Thiel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Melba Mathieson.
Visitation: One hour prior to the services in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Memorial Service: Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
