Robert "Todd" Hovdestad, 79, Felton, MN, died Monday, January 8, 2007, from complications of Parkinsons disease, at MeritCare Palliative Care in Fargo, ND. His family and priest were by his side at his passing.
Robert Caral Hovdestad, son of Anton and Mariet Olivia (Thompson) Hovdestad, was born September 8, 1927, in Moorhead, MN. He was raised in both Moorhead and Williams, MN. He attended school in Moorhead.
Robert enlisted in the Army in 1945. He belonged to the 50th Military Government and advanced to tech corporal during the Korean Occupation. He served two years.
He married Ann M. Prosby on June 13, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. After working for Paul Horn Farms, he entered into a farming partnership with his brother-in-law in 1950 near Felton, Minnesota. He farmed until 1990.
Robert served as a trustee for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Georgetown, Minnesota. He was a member of the Moorhead Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and a life member of the Dakota Territory Gun Collectors Association.
He enjoyed his winters ice fishing with brothers and neighbors. He was a history buff and an avid reader who shared books with neighbors. AND he liked to go visiting.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 58 years, Felton; five daughters, Diane (Larry) Christeson of Graceville, MN, Carol Sellent and fiancé Dennis Bollinger, West Fargo, ND, Joyce (Donald) Burnham, Pelican Rapids, MN, Andrea (Scott) Sonstegard, Detroit Lak
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Florence, MaryAnn "Molly", and Cora; and three brothers, Andrew "Stub", Selmer "Sully", and Russell "Babe".

Funeral: Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, 2 PM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Wild Rose Cemetery, Georgetown, MN.
