Robert John Thompson, Fargo, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, known to many as "Tommy", passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Fargo, at eighty years of age.
Tommy was born September 30, 1925, the second son of Erwin and Irene Thompson. He spent the majority of his life in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Tommy married Katherine in 1948, and together had three children.
Tommy proudly served in the US Naval Air Corp during WW II. After his military service, he worked in the auto-related industry. The majority of his employment was as Service Manager at Selland Motors, Moorhead. After he retired, Tommy operated his own handyman remodeling service called "Tinkerin' Tom's" for fifteen years. Tommy enjoyed life to the fullest with his work, his dogs, and his hunting.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Kate; two daughters, Kathy "Kitsi" (Steve) Zimney, and Trish (Tom) Thorson, all of Fargo; five grandsons, Aaron, Neal, Greg, Andrew, and Joey; one great granddaughter, Alex; one brother and two sisters. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; one son, Bob; and one grandson, Kyle.
A Memorial Mass for Tommy will be held Saturday, September 16, 2006, at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, 5202 - 25th St. S., Fargo.
