Robert Vanlaningham

Robert Earl Vanlaningham was born June 22, 1947, in Atlanta, GA, to Earl and Louise (Childress) Vanlaningham. Robert was raised in Atlanta where he graduated from high school.
Robert entered the United States Air Force right after graduation, and served four years, primarily in Thailand. He married Diane Purdy, and they made their home in Georgia. They lived in Florida for a time, since Robert was still serving his country, and then transferred to Minot Air Force Base, Minot, ND.
They transferred to Georgia and then back to Minot, where Diane preceded Robert in death. Robert met Shanna Mjelde while they were both at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo, ND. They married July 15, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN, and they made their home in Fargo.
Robert died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Sanford Health, Fargo, at sixty-five years of age.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shanna Mjelde-Vanlaningham, Fargo; son, Jeff (Heidi) Vanlaningham, Fargo; and daughter, Sarah (Sean) Anderson, Glenburn, ND; six grandchildren, Mark, Abby, Ella, Luke, Jordan, and Karah ; two sisters, Mary (James) Southernland, Jackson, GA, and Betty Jo (James) Johnson, Jonesboro, GA; and special friend, Kobe.
A Celebration Service for Robert will be Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 9:30 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
