Roberta M. Lewis, 87, died peacefully at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead, MN, on Saturday, June 14, 2008.
Roberta Maxine Schenck was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Baker, MN, to Merle and Cora (Cook) Schenck. She grew up in the Baker area and received her education there, and in Moorhead, where she graduated from high school in 1938.
On Oct. 28, 1939, Roberta married Clarence J. Lewis, at Glyndon, MN. Since their marriage, they lived in the Sabin-Baker-Moorhead area. Clarence died in 1993, and Roberta continued to live in Moorhead.
Family, friends, playing cards and bingo were important to her. She was creative and enjoyed making scrapbooks for family, and writing poems.
She is survived by five children, Peggy (Dale) VanConant, Sioux Falls, SD, Bette (Jerry) Carney, Moorhead, David (Sheri) Lewis, Sabin, JoAnn (Dennis) Smithwick, Moorhead, and Kim (Steve) Sheldon, Frazee, MN; sisters, Vera Mikkelsen, Moorhead, Ellen Morte
Roberta and her family greatly appreciated the wonderful Eventide staff and her friends there.
Visitation: Wednesday, 4 PM until 7 PM,in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral service: Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 1 PM, in First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead, MN.
Burial: Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin.
