Roderick "Rod" Angstman

Roderick Carl Angstman was born September 5, 1931, in Ogema, MN, the son of Alvin and Frances (Mischke) Angstman. He graduated from Waubun (MN) High School in 1949, and entered the United States Marine Corps on March 11, 1952. He served in Korea and was discharged on March 10, 1955.

In October 1956, Rod joined the North Dakota Air National Guard. He retired from the Air Guard in 1986, after thirty-four years of service. While in the Guard, he was a member of their bowling and rifle teams, and chauffeured five North Dakota Governors.

Rod was united in marriage to Audrey Michaelson on June 15, 1957, in Fosston, MN. He attended Dakota Business College and Moorhead State University, Moorhead. He sold a variety of products and drove cars for auto dealerships as well as Enterprise Rental. Rod also worked as a greeter and security at Kmart in Moorhead, until he retired at eighty years of age. Rod was a life-member of all the military clubs and fraternal organizations in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Rod died Saturday, September 21, 2019, in Arbor Park Assisted Living, Moorhead, at eighty-eight years of age.

Rod is survived by his wife, Audrey; sons, Timothy (Suzann), Crystal, MN, Thomas (Paula), Eagan, MN, and Daniel (Janine), Fargo, ND; special foster son, Dr. Hugh (Zoraya) Nguyen, Tavares, FL; grandchildren, Brandon (Molly), Amanda, and James (Suzanne); great-grandchildren, Ryann, Evan, Danielle, and Seamus; sister, Arlue (Milo) Gray, Wisconsin; and brother, David, Baja, Mexico.

Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM, with a funeral at 11 AM, Monday, September 30, 2019, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4000 28th Street South, Moorhead.
