Roger Clyde Ball, age 72, of rural Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in his farm home, surrounded by family, and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Roger, the son of Clyde and Mary (Maruhn) Ball, was born June 12, 1940, in Fargo, ND. He grew up and received his education in the Moorhead area.
On October 19, 1957, Roger married Judy Kennedy in Moorhead. They made their home on the family farm south of Moorhead, where they raised their family, and farmed, until Roger retired in 1996.
Roger loved to cook and was able to put his talent to use during his retirement, in the kitchen at the Crowbar in Sabin. He enjoyed being outdoors caring for his yard and making sure the birds were well fed. Roger was a giving person and spent his life taking care of others in anyway he could. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
Roger is survived by his wife, Judy, rural Moorhead; a daughter, Carrie Ball, rural Moorhead; three sons, Roger L. (Terry) Ball, Fargo, Randy (Kendra) Ball, Fargo, and Robbie Ball, rural Moorhead; 12 grandchildren, Adam, Joel and Josh Strand, Trista (Eric) Berg, Michaela Perry, Chesney (Mark) Grunwald, Chet Perry, Devon Ball, Ciera Ball, Kayla and Jaime Olson, and Casey Ball; a brother, George Ball; and sisters, Dorothy (Lloyd) Nelson and Joyce (Roy) Nielsen. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred.
Visitation: Monday, 5 PM to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sabin.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 1 PM, St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sabin.
Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
