Roger B. Dahnke

Roger B. Dahnke, 89, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in his home under the care of Ethos Hospice. 

Roger Ben Dahnke was born October 4, 1934, the son of Ben and Florence (Dinger) Dahnke in rural Rothsay, MN.  He was raised there attending country school and Rothsay High School before graduating from West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN.  On September 15, 1956, Roger was united in marriage to Juneal “June” Bilden. 

Following their first year of marriage, Roger joined the U.S. Army. During his time in the military, Roger and June were stationed at Fort Lewis, WA where he proudly served as a combat engineer. After returning to the local area, Roger began working as an excavator and eventually established F-M Excavating in 1970. He continued to diligently contribute to his business until his retirement at eighty-three years old in 2017. In his later years, Roger was fortunate enough to fulfill a lifelong dream by engaging in a little farming--an activity he cherished deeply.

Roger is survived by his children, Michael (Jennifer) Dahnke, Suzann (John) Olson, and Shelley (Todd) Lewis; daughter-in-law, Denise Dahnke; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Alan (Diane) Dahnke; sister, Audrey (Beryl) Osmundson; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; son, Todd; grandson, Owen Lewis; granddaughter, Shawna Dahnke; brother, Harley Dahnke; and sister, Doris Dahnke.

A Visitation for Roger will begin at 12:00 PM, Friday, December 22, 2023, followed by his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.  His burial with Military Honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.
