Roger Mohrbacher

December 29, 1929 — February 28, 2014

Roger Edward Mohrbacher, loving and beloved husband, dad and grandpa, passed away peacefully at age 84 on February 28, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Rog was born to Roger Paul and Inez (Webb) Mohrbacher in Minneapolis, MN, on December 29, 1929, the first of 5 siblings. After graduating from North High School in Minneapolis, he attended St. Thomas University and received his First Class Engineering license from Brown Institute. He served in the United States Air Force and, after his honorable discharge, worked as a radio announcer in several cities.

On June 1, 1957, Rog married Harriet Ellingson in Hopkins, Minnesota. Together they raised four daughters, Julie, Diane, Jane and Tricia. The family moved to Moorhead in 1969, where Rog appreciated the family's ever-changing "river view" for 43 years. He enjoyed bird watching and kept neither the finches nor the squirrels in short supply of his homemade bird food. He was a master on the Weber grill.

Rog was employed by WDAY TV for 14 years. He was very dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them. He was a talented pianist who could hear a song once and then play it back by ear, with a touch of jazz.

Those who loved him will miss his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, joy for life and warm heart.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Thomas.

Lucky to have had him in their lives are his wife, Harriet; daughters, Julie (Edward) Desautels, Diane Mohrbacher, Jane (Todd) Dickerson, and Tricia Skodje; ten grandchildren, Christi (fiancé Jon Peterson) Desautels, Reese (Chad) Waggoner, Joanna Desautels, Kevin (Amanda Lesniak) Desautels, Annie Desautels, Katie Desautels, Sam and Claire Skodje, and Skyler and Avery Dickerson; and five great-grandchildren, Elliot and Sadie Jeffery, Rilee and Keegan Waggoner and Arlo Desautels; brother, Paul (Ruth Murphy) Mohrbacher; sister, Darlene (Thomas) White; three nephews Tim White, Bob (Argerie) White and Derek Mohrbacher; niece, Karen White, and many cousins. Rog was also looking forward to the birth of his newest great-grandson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

The funeral mass will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
