Roger Walter Olgard, 67, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003, in his home.
Roger was born on July 4, 1936, to Reier and Bertha (Lenning) Olgard in Hannaford, ND. Roger grew up there and graduated from Hannaford High School in 1955. After working in banking he attended Moorhead (MN) State College and graduated in 1963. He later obtained a Master of Arts degree from North Dakota State University, Fargo.
He was an elementary school teacher in the Fargo Public School System for five years before becoming an elementary principal. He was principal at three schools in Fargo, ending at Lewis and Clark where he served over twenty years. He retired in 1998.
Roger married Charlotte Olson in 1961 in Hannaford, ND. They made their home in Fargo. They had two sons. Shawn Scott, born in 1962 and Mark Lane, born in 1967.
Roger loved being an elementary principal. He always looked forward to returning to work in the fall to be with his colleagues and the children.
Roger also enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting and fishing with friends and family was a favorite pastime of his.
He is survived by his wife Char, sons, Shawn (Carolie) Olgard, grandson, Joshua, Fargo. Mark (Susan) Olgard, grandchildren, Isaac, Selah, Jacob, and Nathan, Moorhead. Brother, Vernon (Myrna) Olgard, Spokane, WA.. Sisters, Ruby Olson, Anaconda, MT, Bernice
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo.
