Roger Roman Karls was born May 20, 1945, in St. Cloud, MN, to David and Mary (Gross) Karls. Roger was raised in Robbinsdale, MN, where he graduated from high school.
Roger continued his education at Moorhead (MN) State University where he received a bachelor's degree in education. He received his master's degree from NDSU, Fargo, ND, and then taught industrial arts at L.E. Berger Middle School, West Fargo, ND, from 1969 to 1991, when he took early retirement due to health concerns. Roger married Delayne Stadsvold in 1968.
Roger was a long-time member of the Fargo YMCA, where he devoted many hours to weight training. During the summer months, Roger could be found enjoying his lake home on Lake Ida, near Audubon, MN. Roger died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in his home in Fargo, at fifty-nine years of age.
Roger is survived by his two children, Amy Karls of Houston, TX, and Jason Karls of St. Paul, MN, and their mother, Delayne of Fargo; one sister, Arlene (Donald) Vasquez, Minneapolis, MN; and one brother, Edward Karls, Minneapolis. His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation for Roger will be Friday, June 11, 2004, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, June 12, 2004, at 10 AM, in Church of the Nativity, Fargo.
