Romelda Hanson

Romelda Ann Norma Hanson, 87, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Eventide on Eighth, in Moorhead, MN.
Romelda was born August 22, 1934, in Roseau, MN, to Nels and Nellie (Edwardson) Braaten. She was raised on the homestead farm near Ross, MN. She graduated from Roseau High School in 1952 and Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in 1956, with a BA in Home Economics. Romelda was united in marriage to Lyle Hanson on August 19, 1956. She taught Home Economics in Ellsworth, MN, Battle Lake, MN, and Pelican Rapids, MN. She worked for Oak Grove High School, JoAnn Fabric, Kvamme Travel, Eventide Nursing Home and Tammy’s Angels Home Healthcare where she made many dear friends.

Romelda’s home was always open to friends and family, for a cup of coffee, cake and a cookie, a homemade meal or a place to stay. Over the years, many found Lyle and Romelda’s place to be a “home away from home”, while on their travels or during their time at one of the area colleges. Romelda maintained lifelong bonds with her Pelican Rapids friends and considered those friendships to be lifelong treasures. She was an active member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead, serving on Altar Guild, quilters circle, WELCA, bible study leader and confirmation mentor.

Romelda will be remembered and missed by her husband of 65 years, Lyle Hanson; two sons, Jon (Linda) Hanson and Larry (Shannon) Hanson; granddaughters, Felicia Hanson, Kayla (Ryan) Hoel, Kathryn Benson (Greg Krathwohl), Emily Hanson, Anna Hanson and one grandson, Erik Hanson; twin great-grandsons, Jackson and Soren Hoel; and son-in-law, Lewis Benson
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra Benson; an infant son, Bruce Hanson; grandson, Andrew Hanson; two brothers, Marvin and Maynard; and sister, Lila Anderson.

Visitation for Romelda will be Friday, March 18, 2022, from 5pm-7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 12pm in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead. Visitation will continue at the church from 10:30am until the time of service.
