Ronald Helgren, 61, Park Rapids, MN, passed away November 18, 2013, in Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, MN, surrounded by his family.
Ronald Jay Helgren was born on October 1, 1952, in Fargo, ND, to Paul and Bonnie (Lenius) Helgren. Ron attended school in Moorhead and, upon graduation, entered the US Air Force. He worked in crypto linguistics and, later, in communications.
Ronald retired in 1991, after 20 years of service to his country. After his discharge, he made his home on 20 acres in Park Rapids, where he fished and hunted to his heart's content. He was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans
Ronald is survived by his mother, Bonnie; brother, Lari Helgren; sister, Paulette (Dave) Haakenson; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul.
Memorials will be donated to the infusion room at the Fargo VA Healthcare System.
Visitation: one hour prior.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013, at 1:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
