Rose M. Pitzel

Rose Maglyn (Ulschmid) Pitzel, longtime resident of Moorhead, MN, died October 13t, 2021.

Rose was born October 28, 1942, in Evergreen Township near Frazee, MN, to Frank & Ann (Joachim) Ulschmid. She was the youngest of 10 siblings and part of a large extended family. She loved hugs from all her beloved nieces and nephews and cherished family gatherings.

After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, Monroe Pitzel, on June 15, 1963. Shortly after, they had identical twin sons, Jerome and James (that died as infants), son, Matthew and daughter, Jessica, both Moorhead. They were a close-knit family that lived in Kenosha, WI, on Rose Lake, Vergas, MN, several different homes in Vergas, MN, West Fargo, ND, then settled in Moorhead July of 1976 until the time of her passing.

Rose was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic church in Moorhead, from 1976 until her death. She was a member of the Christian Mother's and helped with countless events. Both Rose and Monty were strongly rooted in their Catholic faith; they even travelled to see Pope Paul II twice!
Rose was proud of the fact that she worked for the Moorhead School District for over 40 years.

Rose is survived by her son, Matthew Pitzel, Moorhead, daughter, Jessica Pitzel Anderson and son-in-law John Anderson, Moorhead; grandson, Spencer Pitzel, Duluth, MN; step grandchildren, Nicole Broadway, Fargo, Mason Reinhiller, Fargo, Emily Anderson, Moorhead, Martha Anderson, Duluth, Brian (Lauren) Anderson; and great-grandson, Elijah Anderson, Fargo; brother and sister-in-law, Michael & Bette Pitzel, Vergas, MN; sister-in-law, Winnie Ulschmid, Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law, Janice Watt, New Hope, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Monroe; infant sons, Jerome and James; and all her siblings, Virginia, Virgil, Geraldine, Francis, Wilfred, Duane, Eugene, Teresa, and Peter.

A Visitation for Rose will be from 10-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Francis de Sales, Moorhead, on Saturday, October 23rd. A luncheon will follow the service.

She will be laid to rest Saturday at 3 PM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Frazee, MN, next to her beloved husband, Monroe and close to her infant sons.
