RoseMarie Wittmer

RoseMarie Wittmer, 86, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

RoseMarie Hemmelgarn, the daughter of Art and Kathryn (Walz) Hemmelgarn, was born in Perham, MN, on July 12, 1927. She grew up and received her education in Perham, where she graduated from high school in 1945. While in high school, she worked in a local bakery. As a young lady, she moved to Jamestown, ND, to work for Northwestern Bell. While working for the telephone company, she met Herbert Wittmer.

RoseMarie and Herb were married in Perham on July 14, 1947. They first lived in Jamestown and later lived in LaMoure and Grand Forks, both North Dakota.

In July of 1958, the family made their home in Moorhead. RoseMarie worked for a local dry cleaner for a while and then worked in the lunchroom of Probstfield Elementary School in Moorhead, for a number of years. She retired in 1979.

RoseMarie truly enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home in Moorhead, and at their lake home on Little Pine Lake, near Perham. The family has many fond memories of time spent on Little Pine. She was also an active and devoted member of St. Joseph parish in Moorhead, where she sang in the choir, was a member of both Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers, and served willingly as a church visitor to those in the hospital or in a nursing home.

Her husband, Herb, died on December 9, 1990. After his death, she continued to live in Moorhead; most recently in River Pointe of Moorhead.

RoseMarie is survived by her four children, Suzanne (Greg) Nordbeck, Fargo, Doug Wittmer, Moorhead, Mary (Jim) Gravalin, Perham, and David (Dori) Wittmer, Fargo; two sisters, Elizabeth Zampedri, Ogden, Utah, and Mary (Bill) Smith, Moorhead; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Kelly) Koble, Lisa (Joel) Nierode, Andrea (Cory) Fladeboe, Erin (Brandon) Bertram, and Cody Wittmer; six great-grandchildren, Morgan and Kennedy Koble, Jackson and Ethan Nierode, and Alivia and Greyson Fladeboe; and special friends, Ruth and Ross Mathews and family.

Visitation: Sunday, from 2 PM until 4 PM, with a prayer service at 4 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral mass: Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial: St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery, Perham.
