Roy A. Kalsow, age 94, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in his home in Moorhead, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Roy Albert Kalsow, the son of Frank and Margaret (Gast) Kalsow, was born in Moorhead, on April 23, 1918. He grew up and received his education in Moorhead, where he graduated from high school in 1936. He attended and graduated from Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. On September 27, 1941, Roy was united in marriage to Doris Viola Nash, in Fargo.
During World War II, Roy served his country in the US Army Air Forces. He served overseas in north Africa and in Europe. After his discharge, the family made their home in Moorhead, where Roy worked for the US Postal Service until he retired in 1973. After retirement, he worked at the Moorhead Coast to Coast store. Roy was a wonderful handyman and builder. He loved to fish, both in the summer and in winter.
Roy is survived by his three children, Margaret (Roger) Willits, Moorhead, David (Jan) Kalsow, Big Cormorant Lake, MN, and Luke (Jill) Kalsow, West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Lori Willits, Christopher (Jill) Kalsow, Jennifer (Bryan) Frantz, and Levi, McKenzie and Kolbie Kalsow; great-grandchildren, Rhyen Kalsow and Christopher and Kai Frantz; great-stepgranddaughter, Savannah Samek; and a sister-in-law, Edna Kalsow.
Roy was preceded in death by his dear wife, Doris, who died October 10, 1998; his parents; a brother, Ralph Kalsow; and sisters, Laura Hanson and Pearl Lindner.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, at the church.
Funeral: Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 2 PM, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
