Royal Diede

Royal Diede was born to Henry and Bertha (Naasz) Diede on December 18, 1917, in Artas, South Dakota. He was raised on a farm near Artas where he attended a country school and completed a 6th grade education. On December 18, 1942, (his birthday!) he married Vyolette Strobel. They farmed near Eureka, SD, for the first ten years of their marriage. In 1954, Royal and Vyolette moved to Fargo, ND, where he spent the majority of his working years self-employed in the real estate business.
Royal accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior as a young man and served several churches in a variety of capacities throughout most of his adult life. His relationship with, and service to his Lord was an integral part of his daily life.
Although he was able to spend most of his later years at home in the care of his wife and other caregivers, his health declined to the point where it was decided that his needs could be best be met in a nursing home setting. In January 2006 he became a resident of Villa Maria in Fargo, ND. It was there that he peacefully went home to be with his Lord on July 19, 2006, at 88 years of age.
Royal was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha (Naasz) Diede; stepmother, Martha (Naasz) Diede; brother, Erwin, Ernhold, Clarence, Lawrence, and Aaron; and a sister, Ella.
Those waiting to rejoin him later are his wife, Vyolette; a son, Lew (Connie); brothers, Arnold (Pat), Calvin (Bess), and Norman (Lyla); sisters, Verna (Clinton) Berndt, Irene Fischer, Ruth (Al) Tollefson, and Nora (Al) Nelson; granddaughters, Michelle (Shane) Holmes, Shannon (Glenn) Graff, and Sara (Christopher) Nulle; great-grandsons, Terrin and Tate Padilla; foster children, Julie (Larry) Saulsbury, Terry (Anna) Trautmann, Jerome (Leanne) Trautmann, Clyde (Jean) Trautmann, and Dale (Emily) Trautmann; foster grandchildren, Paul, Tom, Cassandra, Kristina, Jessica, Kari, Sheila, Kellee, Kurtis, Timothy, Noah, and Ella; and eight foster great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Royal will be Sunday, July 23, 2006, from 5 - 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. His funeral will be Monday, July 24, 2006, at 10 AM, in Metropolitan Baptist Church, Fargo. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
