Rudy Leonard, 97, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Rudy was born on February 16, 1913, in Palo, MN. He moved with his family to New York Mills, MN, when he was a young child and lived on a farm. He graduated from New York Mills High School in 1929 and worked on the family farm until 1937. At that time he moved to Moorhead and worked at Cass-Clay Creamery.
Rudy was married to Blanche Mulvanny in June of 1942 in Wheaton, MN. He entered the military in 1942 and served with the 310th Bomb Wing in the South Pacific until 1945. After his discharge from the army, he returned to Moorhead and started the Rudy Leonard Construction Company. Rudy retired at age 70 and spent his retirement years gardening at his home in Moorhead, golfing, and fishing at his lake home on Fish Lake.
Rudy and Blanche were members of Trinity Lutheran Church where Rudy volunteered on the building committee for many years, served on the Helping Hands Group, and did work at Camp Emmaus.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Blanche, Moorhead; a daughter, Karen (Tom) Flaig, Atlanta, GA; two sons, Bruce (Pat Honek) Leonard, Fargo, and Bob (Darcy Ritchie) Leonard, Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Lamon, Oregon, and Audrey Olson, California. He was preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.
Those who knew Rudy will remember his hard work ethic, his sense of humor and his joy in visiting with others.
Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Camp Emmaus Fund.

Funeral service: Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 2 PM, in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
