Ruth Bakko

Ruth J. Bakko, 88, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Georgetown, MN, died Thursday, November 20, 2014, in HRC - ManorCare in Fargo.

Ruth Jeanette Tracy was born October 3, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Opheim) Tracy, in Bismarck, ND. She lived with her family in Emmons County, ND, before they moved to Hendrum, MN in 1934. The family settled in Perley and she attended Hendrum High School graduating in 1945. She worked for Standard Oil in Fargo from 1948 to 1952.

On April 2, 1949, she was united in marriage to Herbert B. Bakko in Perley. They made their home on a farm near Georgetown, where they farmed through the years. Herbert died on September 19, 1994 and she moved to Fargo later that year.

Ruth was a member of Kirkebo Lutheran Church and was very active in the ladies aide over the years. She also was a volunteer at the Dakota Boys Ranch for many years.

She enjoyed quilting and sewing. Ruth also liked to play family games, especially cards and in her later years, Dominoes. Over the years, she had an opportunity to travel with her children and took in many places throughout the United States.

Ruth is survived by her children, Mary (Bruce) Froseth, Fargo, Kathy (Don) Cross, Maple Grove, MN, and Lee Bakko, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Mark Eskildsen, James (Carmen) Froseth, Ryan (Jennifer) Froseth, Michelle (Michael) Biver, Chad (Danielle) Froseth, Adam (Leah) Froseth, Kensey Cross and Nathan Cross; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jack (Jan) Tracy, Ada, MN, and Kim (Yvonne) Tracy, Whitman, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; and brothers, Henry and Tom.

A visitation for Ruth will be one hour prior to the funeral service.

Her funeral service will be Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 11:00 AM in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.

She will be buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
