Ruth Idso, age 98, recently passed away peacefully at St. Catherine South Nursing Home, Fargo, ND, where she resided for five years. Her family greatly appreciates the kind, capable and personal care she received there.
Ruth was born on May 23, 1924, to Tollef and Anna (Nore) Olson in Hanley Falls, MN. She graduated from Hanley Falls High School and later attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. While there, Ruth’s good friend, and later sister-in-law, introduced her to Percy Idso. On May 5, 1946, Ruth became Mrs. Percy “Pete” Idso and later moved to Fargo where they raised three children.
Ruth was Dean of Girls at Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo for 18 years. She was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church and had many opportunities for involvement there. She enjoyed directing children’s choirs, taught Sunday School and Bible School, and sang in the Senior Choir. She also offered up her skill as a piano player and often accompanied Circle gatherings at Elim. Ruth loved music and would often play the piano while her three children stood by her and sang. One of her favorites was “Bless This House Oh Lord We Pray.” Her family was truly blessed by her steadfast love, care, and faith. She loved being with her family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Percy; two sisters and three brothers.
