Ruth Eisenbeis

Ruth Eisenbeis, 96, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, October 4, 2019, in Bethany on University in Fargo.

Ruth Seher, the daughter of Oscar and Ottilia (Rempfer) Seher, was born in Streeter, ND, on May 31, 1923. She grew up in Streeter, where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Valley City (ND) State Teachers College, and returned to the Streeter area, where she taught in rural schools.

On November 21, 1946, Ruth was married to Reinhold Eisenbeis, in Jamestown, ND. They returned to Streeter, where they farmed. In 1951, the family moved to the Ada, MN, area where they also farmed. In 1981, they purchased a home in Moorhead, MN, but continued to farm near Ada. They retired from farming in 1989.
Ruth and Reinhold truly worked together and gardened together, growing produce to feed many, as well as canning and freezing for winter. Ruth was known for making a big farm lunch most days and was also well-known for her homemade lemon meringue pies. Ruth loved cats, and often had a house cat, as well as many "farm" cats. She was active in her church in Lockhart, MN, where she taught Sunday School, and participated in many ladies aide activities. For most of her life, Ruth was always "on the go."

Her husband, Reinhold, died March 27, 2005. After his death she continued to live in their home in Moorhead. At the age of 88, she moved to Touchmark in Fargo, and later to Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND. In October of 2018, Ruth became a resident of Bethany on University, Fargo.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Roxie Benson, Fargo; grandsons, Brian (Brandi) Benson, Barnesville, MN, and Jason (Nicole) Benson, Fargo; five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Conner, Brittany, Brooklynn and Breanna Ruth, Benson; her former son-in-law, Mike Benson, Moorhead; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold; her parents; and sisters, Ella Schnaidt and Lillian Grill.

Memorials preferred to Cats Cradle Shelter, Fargo, or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, from 5 PM until 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at 2 PM, also in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. She will be buried beside her husband in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
