Angels rejoiced on Saturday as Heaven received one of God's faithful servants, Sam F. Skaff. Sam suffered a stroke on November 12th, leading to his death on November 21st in his home with his family by his side.
Born May 1, 1915, to Ferris and Mary Skaff near McClusky, ND, Sam grew up selling newspapers on the street corners. During World War II, he served two and a half years in the Middle East in the Army Signal Corp.
Sam sold Watkins products while attending Concordia College, then started selling Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners in 1949.
On June 6, 1948, he married Florene M. Ryan in Bismarck, ND. They moved to Fargo when Sam was promoted to branch manager for Electrolux in January 1956. In 1962, Sam constructed his first apartment buildings and single family homes - which would later become the present Skaff Apartments of Fargo/Moorhead.
Sam was a lifelong member at Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of Gideons. He so enjoyed family lake time where he still jet skied.
One of Sam's greatest joys was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent countless hours on the floor playing and teaching them about Jesus. His energy and youthful spirit were a blessing.
Sam spent day and night spreading the word of Jesus. He touched many lives handing out Bibles and reminding everyone they are loved.
For fourteen years, Sam has looked forward to the day he would be with his beautiful wife Florene in Heaven. One can only imagine the hugs and kisses she received the day he entered God's kingdom.
He is survived by his sons, Wayne (Arlene) Skaff of Ramsey, MN; Sam (Laneil) Skaff of Moorhead, MN; two daughters, Charlene Skaff of Moorhead, MN; and Sharon (David) Tranby of Moorhead, MN. He was also known as a "cool" Grandpa to his grandchildren: Kris
