Sam "Swede" Frisco

Sam "Swede" Frisco Jr., 85, of Dilworth, MN, passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 3, 2016, at Serentiy Assisted Living, under the care of Hospice.

Swede was born in Moorhead, MN, September 19, 1930, to Sam and Lena (Oliver) Frisco. He grew up and attended school in Dilworth. After serving in the United States Navy, he returned home and began working on the section with Burlington Northern Railroad. Swede continued to serve as he became a police officer for the city of Dilworth as well as being on the fire department. His tenure with Dilworth culminated after he became the city Maintenance Engineer, a position he held for over thirty-eight years, until his retirement.

Growing up, Swede enjoyed playing sports, especially football and baseball. He was passionate about hunting and fishing, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Swede met the love of his life, Muriel Durling, in 1944, and they were married on October 2, 1950. They made their home in Dilworth, where they raised their five children. Swede loved his Sweet-Pea, and they were blessed to celebrate sixty-five years of marriage in 2015.

Swede was happiest when with his family. Whether it was for a holiday, birthday, or a visit, he enjoyed being surrounded by three generations of family who deeply loved him. Ever the patriarch, it was important to him that his family was together and well taken care of. The love and devotion he showed his family and friends will be missed.

Swede is survived by his wife, Muriel; his children, Linda (Joe) Carlson, Gary (Melinda) Frisco, Mark (Sheila) Frisco, Donna Pickering, and Laurie Frisco; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Mary Urban, Joe Frisco, Gene Frisco, Jerome (Julie) Frisco, Sharon (Mike) Braham, and David (Barb) Frisco.

Swede was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Plath; brother, Daryl Frisco; and granddaughter, Samantha Frisco.

Friends may gather one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Swede's Memorial Service will be Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 2 PM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth.
