Sandra K. Morken

Sandra Kay Morken, 69, of Glyndon, MN, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in her home, surrounded by family and under the care of Sanford Hospice – battling glioblastoma for four months.

Sandra, the daughter of Sanford and Irma (Hernvall) Erickson, was born November 14, 1952, in Wheaton, MN. She was raised on a farm near Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School. After high school she attended Moorhead Technical College and received a degree in Computer Science. After finishing school, she began working at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Fargo, ND.

On November 4, 1978, she was united in marriage to Ronald Morken at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, MN. They made their first home on a farm northeast of Glyndon, MN. During their early years of marriage, they also farmed property near Linton, ND, built a home near Kragness, MN and then moved temporarily to Fargo, ND. They resided back to their original farm near Glyndon.

Sandra continued to work at BCBS, retiring after 30 years. While working at BCBS she made a close niche of friends that became another family for her. After her retirement, Sandra became a full-time rancher with her husband, raising cattle at their farm near Glyndon.

Sandra and Ron found their first church, Knollbrook Covenant in Fargo, ND, now known as Grace Covenant.

Sandra enjoyed flowers, garage sales, music, playing the piano/organ, dancing, cross-stitching, puzzles, games, animals, and raising her baby calves.

She is survived by her husband Ronald; four children, Jennifer, Russell, and Troy Morken, all of Fargo, and Brianne Morken, Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Dustin, Nathanial, Christian and Walker Morken. She is also survived by brother, Stanley Erickson, Wheaton, MN; sister, Shirley Swenson, Bloomington, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Leighanna Morken; brother-in-law, Robert Swenson; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Erickson.

Sandra’s family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers of Sanford Hospice for the amazing and compassionate care they provided Sandra; and would also like to thank her friends and their support of their church, Grace Covenant.

A Visitation for Sandra will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a 6:30 PM, Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.

Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2022, in Grace Covenant Church, Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. 

A Graveside Service will follow in Salem Cemetery, Wolverton, MN.
