Sandra "Sandy" Claire Botsford was born October 31, 1936, in Petersburg, VA, to Walter and Clara (Hammerstad) Botsford. The family moved to Kulm, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1955. She moved to Moorhead, MN, where she received a degree in education from Moorhead State University.
Sandy was united in marriage to Stanley Retzlaff, in Sisseton, SD, in 1959, and she began her teaching career. She taught in Hawley, MN, Glyndon, MN, and Moorhead, where they made their home. Stanley died on June 16, 1978.
Sandy married Eldon Wollmann, in Moorhead, in 1989. Sandra was a very active and devoted member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King. Sandy and Eldon were involved with the Befriender Program, sang in the church choir, and served on the church council. Sandy believed in the power of prayer and prayed for her family and friends regularly. Following her retirement, Sandy continued her love of teaching by volunteering at the Heritage Hjemkomst Center and guiding tours of the Stave church.
Sandy was a loving, caring, devoted wife, mother and friend. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many. The habits of her heart included grace, kindness and generosity. She had a gentle joy which she shared abundantly with all of God's creatures.
Surrounded by her family, Sandy passed away, Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at sixty-nine years of age. May the Lord bless the memory of this dear and wonderful woman.
Sandy is lovingly survived by her husband, Eldon; her sons, David (fiancée, Elizabeth) Retzlaff, Fargo, and Daniel Retzlaff, Moorhead; stepchildren, Lynette (Kent) Mueller, Sioux Falls, SD, Tammy (Randy) Cook, Hawley, and Troy (Jen) Wollmann, Bismarck,
Visitation for Sandy will be Friday, February 17, 2006, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Her funeral will be Saturday, February 18, 2006, at 11 AM, in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, 1900 - 14th St
