Shari Kay Arechigo Halland

Shari Kay Arechigo Halland, 50, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2024, in her home in Fargo, ND.

Shari was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on November 22, 1973, to Cathy Flanigan and Felix James “Jim” Arechigo. She grew up in Fargo, and attended Fargo North High School and graduated from Woodrow Willson High School. She later attended and graduated from Minnesota State Community and Technical College with a degree in Business Administration/ Accounting. After graduation, Shari worked as a secretary/legal assistant for Pete Karlsson at Clay County Public Defender’s Office. For the past 25+ years, she has worked at the Cass County Highway Department as a Senior Accounting Technician.

Shari gave birth to one of her greatest blessings, Dylan, on January 20, 1992. Shari married Robin Halland in 2004, and gave birth to her other greatest blessing, Taylor, on November 14, 2007. Shari met Jason Rodacker in 2016, and they were engaged November 23, 2023, and finally set a wedding date of September 13, 2025.

Shari enjoyed spending her weekends at the lake, she loved her dog, Chanel “donkey”, shopping, giving advice, taking pictures, celebrating life with family and friends, and was a faithful NDSU Bison and Minnesota Vikings fan.

Shari’s amazing heart and ability to light up a room with her presence will forever be missed. Her ability to make friends anywhere she went was one of her many gifts. She always saw the best in everyone and everything. Her personality brought people together, and her amazing culinary skills topped every visit to Shari’s home one to remember. 

Shari’s love for her kids was unwavering. She had a way of coming across as the toughest mom alive, and all the while, displaying unconditional love and support to her family. 

Shari also enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Ryder, and looked forward to meeting her newest granddaughter, Brooklyn. Her time was cut short, but Shari was looking forward to being a grandmother. 

Shari is survived by her two children, Dylan Arechigo, Flagstaff, AZ and Taylor Halland, Fargo, ND; her father, Jim Arechigo, Fargo, ND; her mother, Cathy Flanigan, Casselton, ND; Fiancé, Jason Rodacker, Fargo, ND and his children, Brock Rodacker (Tawny), Bryce D. Rodacker (Holly), Bryce J. Burnside, and Kiarra Rodacker (Ben); her brother, Jimmy Arechigo, Nashville, TN, and his daughter Alexis; sister, Amber (Bryan) Theibold, Oxbow, ND, and their children Camron and Cole; as well as many aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday, August 30 at 1pm for family and friends with limited seating. Following Shari’s service, all who would like to celebrate Shari are invited to The Sidestreet Bar and Grill upstairs at 2pm for a continued Celebration of Shari’s Life and fellowship with family.  Shari's Memorial Service will be livestreamed here on her obituary page.
