Sherian A. Barnes, 68, of Casselton, ND, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 19, 2017, in her home.
Sherian Ann Barnes was born July 31, 1948, the daughter of Erwin and Mabel (Bohne) Mischke, on a farm near Leonard, ND. The family lived in rural Cass County until settling in Leonard, where she graduated from Leonard High School in 1967.
On June 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Conrad P. Barnes in St. Henry's Catholic Church in Leonard. They made their home in Casselton where she worked various jobs until becoming a day care provider. After years of caring for children, Sherian decided to enter the business world working as a receptionist at Dakota Food Equipment for fifteen years and then Crary Industries for eleven years, retiring in 2015. Sherian and Conrad recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and their Ladies Aide.
Sherian had a knack for carpentry and could build or fix anything she put her mind to. She also enjoyed baking and cooking, whether it was baking goodies or cooking a big meal for family and it brought her great joy.
Family was something that Sherian cherished most, her husband, children, grandchildren, brothers and sister were a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Conrad; children, Sherry A. Barnes, Casselton, and Conrad J. (Sharon Hendrickson) Barnes, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Sheldon Garry Barnes, Jon Beaumont, and Kassandra Beaumont; sister, Sandra (Lloyd Rott) Lewis, Jamestown, ND; brothers, Dale (Diane) Mischke, Kindred, ND, and Garret (Arlinda Olson) Mischke, Fargo; sister-in-law; Sherry (Dean Saewert) Mischke, Casselton; godchildren, Mark (Jamie) Lewis, East Bethel, MN, and Darrick (Kathryn) Mischke, West Fargo, ND; she is also survived by two aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Sheldon and Garry.
Memorials may be directed to the Casselton Food Pantry.
A Visitation for Sherian will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Casselton.
Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in St. Leo's Catholic Church.
Interment will be in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery.
