Shirley A. Houglum, 52, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Shirley Ann Houglum was born March 12, 1955, in Fargo, ND, to Ernest and Elaine (Wegner) Houglum. She was raised in Perley, MN, and graduated from Hendrum (MN) High School. After graduation, she attended Josef's School of Hair Design. She then moved to Ulen, MN, where she ran her own beauty shop.
Shirley moved back to Perley and ran a beauty shop out of her home. She also worked for a short time at the Perley Cenex Café. In 2002, she attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College, graduating with a business associates degree. She then moved to Moorhead.
Due to declining health, Shirley entered the Golden Living Center, Moorhead, eventually moving to Elim Care Center, Fargo. Shirley enjoyed crafts, fishing at the lakes, cooking, baking and gardening. She had a zest for life and was very close to her family.
She is lovingly survived by her mother, Elaine Houglum, Moorhead; a sister, Jeanine (David) Brooks, Fargo; and a niece, Sarah Brooks (fiancé, Andrew Law), Fargo. She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation: Thursday from 5 - 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Service: Friday, March 14, 2008, at 11 AM, in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.
Burial: Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, Perley.
