Shirley Amundson

Shirley C. Amundson, age 80, Charlotte, NC, formerly of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.


Shirley C. Opheim was born July 17, 1924, at Cyrus, MN. She grew up and received her education in a number of communities in the area and in Fargo, ND, where she graduated from Central High School in 1942.


As a young lady, she moved to the state of Washington, where she worked in an aircraft factory during the war. Shirley returned to Fargo and worked for the telephone company.


Shirley was united in marriage to William "Bill" Amundson on March 20, 1946, in Fargo. They lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area. In 1975, they moved to Great Falls, MT, and in 1978, they returned to Fargo. Bill died December 29, 1992. After his death, Shirley continued to live in Fargo. In 1995, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and in 1999 to Charlotte, NC, where she had lived since.


Shirley is survived by three sons, Paul (Bonnie) Amundson, Oakdale, MN, Mark Amundson, Albuquerque, NM, and Jon (Sheila) Amundson, Tacoma, WA; a daughter, Marsha (Grant) Maas, Charlotte; a sister, Sandra Edenborg, Minnetonka, MN; a brother, Clifford (Bonnie) Opheim, Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
