Shirley Fremo

Shirley Fremo, age 69, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, August 26, 2011, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Shirley Ann Johnson, adopted daughter of Russell and Inga (Appleseth) Johnson, was born in Minneapolis, MN, on June 6, 1942. Shirley grew up and received her education in Clarkfield, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1960.

On June 26, 1960, Shirley was united in marriage to Roger Fremo, at Milan, MN. Following their marriage, they lived near Boyd, MN, and in Clarkfield. In 1967, they moved to Barnesville, MN, and in 1969, to Moorhead, where they had lived since. Shirley had worked at the Ramada Inn in Moorhead, and did independent housecleaning.

Shirley loved dogs, especially whippets. She enjoyed attending dog shows, and became expert at all aspects of them. She was artistic and was an avid flower gardener. Shirley also was interested in and supported programs to care for wild horses.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Roger, Moorhead; daughters, Shannon Fremo, Moorhead, Cynthia (David) Johnson, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Michelle Johnson, Moorhead; a son, Sidney Fremo, Brainerd, MN; sister, Judy (John) Huss, Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Sarah Fremo, Zach Johnson, Dana Shepherd, Dustin Shepherd, and Shane Shepherd; and three great-grandchildren, Meredith Craft, Annabelle Culkins, and Caleb Shepherd.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of Essentia Health for the wonderful care that they gave to Shirley.

Visitation: Tuesday, 5 PM to 7 PM, with service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral: Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 10:30 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
