Shirley Johnson

Shirley A. Johnson, 76, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, February 19, 2016, in Bethany on 42nd in Fargo.

Shirley Arlene Johnson was born April 16, 1939, the daughter of Alfred and Carmelete (Sampson) Johnson, on the family farm, rural Perley, MN. She was raised there, attending Riverside Country School, and graduated from Campus High School at Moorhead State University in 1957. Shirley then attended the New York Hair Style Academy in Fargo.

She worked as a beautician in Fargo and then in 1960, bought a beauty shop in Oakes, ND. She owned and operated Shirley's Beauty Shop for 23 years. In 1983, she moved to Moorhead where she worked with home health until ill health forced her to retire. In 2009, she moved to the Elim Rehab and Care Center and then to Bethany on 42nd in 2012.

Shirley was a member of First Lutheran Church, Fargo. She also enjoyed baking.

She is survived by her brother, Erling Johnson, Fargo, ND; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Elna Bolstad.

Friends may gather for Shirley one hour prior to her service.

Her Memorial Service will be Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 2 PM, in the Bethany on 42nd Chapel, Fargo.
