Shirley C. Ziegler, 78, Fargo, ND, formerly of Georgetown, MN, died Sunday, September 14, 2008, in the MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Shirley C. Aabye was born November 12, 1929, to Carl and Stella (Ness) Aabye on the family farmstead in rural Perley, MN. She was raised there and graduated from Borup (MN) High School. Shirley then began working as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
On November 21, 1953, Shirley married Robert Ziegler and they made their home in rural Georgetown. She lovingly raised her family and cooked for the crew of the family owned road construction business. Later she and Bob owned and operated the B and S corner bar for several years, then eventually resumed farming.
Bob died in June of 2004 and Shirley continued to live on the farm in Georgetown until moving to Trollwood Village, Fargo, in 2006. In the two short years she lived there, she made many friends who touched her life with laughter and love. She was also active in the Cardiac Rehab at MeritCare where she found friendship and encouragement in the loving staff.
While Shirley lived on the farm, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, going to the lake, raising her beloved goats and cooking anything that came her way. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Karla Ziegler (Greg Pederson), Georgetown, B.J. (Perry) Erickson, West Fargo, ND, and Connie Ziegler (Jesse Martinez), Georgetown; a son, Stan (Heidi) Ziegler, Grand Forks, ND; fifteen grandchildren, Adam (Cathy) Peders
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diane Wambach; two grandchildren, Corrine Erickson and Greggory Wambach; and five siblings.
Visitation for Shirley is on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
The Funeral is on Friday, September 19, 2008, at 10:30 AM, in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN.
Burial will be in Wild Rose Cemetery, Georgetown, MN
