Steven Kloeckner

December 16, 1947 — August 10, 2012

Steven J. Kloeckner, 64, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, August 10, 2012, in ManorCare, Fargo, ND.
Steven Joseph Kloeckner was born December 16, 1947, to Joseph and Mary (Beauclair) Kloeckner, in Fargo, ND. He grew up in Dilworth, MN, and graduated from Dilworth High School in 1965. He attended Wahpeton (ND) State School of Science and Moorhead State University. He was a decorated college athlete and power lifter. Steve was married to Cindy Rae Allen on June 24, 1972. He was employed by Burlington Northern for 34 years and was highly regarded as a locomotive engineer.
He was a proud supporter and member of the Dilworth Lions and Moorhead State Dragon Fire as well as an avid sports fan. He enjoyed donating his time as volunteer PA announcer and coach to Dilworth Glyndon Felton High School in his retirement years.
Steve loved his time with his grandchildren and was very much looking forward to the new arrival in the family. He will always be treasured as having a witty sense of humor and everyone known and loved by Steve, had their own special ‘nickname'. He led by example by standing up for his beliefs and was a give-you-the-shirt-off-his-back kind of guy. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Matt (Barbara) Kloeckner and Ryan (Molly) Kloeckner, both Fargo; two grandchildren, Tyler and Alayna; a brother, John Kloeckner, Dilworth; and two sisters, Mary (Mark) Varriano, Bemidji, MN, and Cathy Kloeckner, Moorhead. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael.
The family prefers donations be made to DGF Booster Club, P.O. Box 188, Dilworth, MN 56529.
A gathering of friends: Thursday, 5 PM to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Memorial service: Friday, August 17, 2012, at 10 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
