On Monday, September 4, 2017, Susan "Susie" Hanson, Dilworth, MN, returned to the loving arms of her heavenly family. Susie was born August 22, 1950, to Edward and Edna (Melsness) McGough, in Moorhead, MN. She grew up in Moorhead with her ten brothers and sisters and graduated from Moorhead High in 1968.
In 1974, she was united in marriage to James W. Hanson. Together they had four children. In 1981, Susie and her children moved to Dilworth, where they made their home. Susie earned a degree at MAVTI in 1986 for Medical Secretary. She started working for the USDA Farm Service Agency, and was there for twelve years. In July of 1997, she began to work for the Clay County Juvenile Detention Center, just completing twenty years of service. Susie also subcontracted to the Moorhead Public School District at the same time.
Susie always had an open door and open heart to anyone in need. Her children and grandchildren were the most important people to her on earth. She was their rock. She will be remembered for always putting others before herself no matter who it was. Susie had a strong faith and great love for our God. She truly tried to see Jesus in everyone who crossed her path. She was always the first to help any way she could, even if it was only a comforting word that she had to offer.
Those of us left behind to mourn our loss and celebrate her life will never know anyone like her. Susie is survived by her children, all of Dilworth; Stephanie Hanson, Christopher (Stacy Houge) Hanson, Miranda (Steve Pavola) Hanson, and James (Jessica) Hanson; daughter by love, Annette (Larry) Rasile, Oxbow, ND; brother, James McGough; sister, Carol (Bob) Swenson; and many nieces and nephews.
Susie is also survived by her most precious gifts God gave her, that being her grandchildren, Xavior, Mercedes, Christopher "Critters;" Abigail, James "Boo," Kaden Pavola, Vivian, Liam "Mookie," Shealyn "Shea-Shea," Zayne "Chewy," Bram "Bam-Bam," and her many fur babies.
Among her heavenly family there to greet her will be her parents; sisters, Dorothy Lemke, Virgina Zasada, Margaret Braaten, Beverly Larson, and Sharon Bowlus; brothers, Charles "Chuck" McGough, Jerome "Joe" McGough and Richard "Dick" McGough. But most of all her grandchildren, Donovan Hanson, Grayson Pavola, and Mauriana Pavola, that she will now be able to hold and snuggle for eternity.
The angels will light your way mom and when you reach those pearly gates you will hear Him say "job well done."
Visitation will be Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Dilworth.
The funeral Mass will be Monday, September 11, 2017, at 11 AM, at the church.
