Sybil I. Nielson

Sybil Nielson, age 84, Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at ManorCare Health Services, Fargo.
Sybil Ukestad was born to Oscar G. and Olive A. Ukestad on September 29, 1922, at her parent's rural home near McHenry, ND. When she was five years old, the family moved to a farm near Grace City, ND. Sybil attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Carrington (ND) High School. She completed courses in business accounting at Capital Commercial College, Bismarck, ND, and a legal secretarial course at Moorhead Tech. She was a deputy county auditor for Foster County, North Dakota, until she volunteered for military service.
During the final stages of WW II, Sybil enlisted as a WAC medical technician serving at rehabilitation field hospitals. After her discharge, she worked in various positions over the years while raising a family. Sybil spent 15 years in civil service employment prior to retiring to care for her husband, Paul G. Nielson, a cancer victim, who died February 17, 1988.
Sybil is survived by three children, Paula (Tom) Lindekugel Willis, Minot, ND, Cassandra Schafer and Gary (Lisa) Nielson, both of Fargo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Oscar A. and Norris L. Ukestad.
Arrangements are by Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, MN. After cremation, Sybil will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
