Sylvia L. Anderson

Sylvia L. Anderson, 87, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead.

Sylvia Lillie Lydia Dietz was born May 20, 1926, the youngest of seven children to Herman and Lillie (Kolander) Dietz, at Vesta, MN. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN, in 1943. Sylvia then moved to Fargo, ND, where she attended the New York Beauty Academy.

Sylvia met Morris Anderson at a dance at the Model Ballroom in Fargo and they were married July 9, 1946, in Thief River Falls. They made their home in rural Moorhead near Sabin, MN. In 1967, they left the farm and moved into Sabin. Sylvia worked in Moorhead at McDonald's, the Gardner Hotel, the Bowler, and at Motel 75. Morris passed away on March 8, 1983. She continued to make her home in Sabin until 1994, when she moved to Moorhead.

Sylvia loved flowers, dancing, sewing, reading, traveling, playing word games and cards, bowling and doing puzzles. Her family was always the focus of her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Washburn, West Fargo, ND, Sandra (Curt) Hautala, Nashwauk, MN, Ellen Hunt, Moorhead, Laurie Anderson and Susan (Bruce) Fraser, both Seattle, WA, Gwen (Tom) Moore, Moorhead, and Andrea (Dan) Holmes, Baxter, MN; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris; an infant daughter; son-in-law, David Washburn; and siblings, Elta, Paul, Lawrence, Harold, Bernice, Raymond, and Clarence.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 17, 2014, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead, MN.

Interment: Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.
