Thelma Buth

Thelma Sophia Aileen Anderson was born November 18, 1924, in rural New York Mills, MN, to Isaac and Olga (Johnson) Anderson. Her family later moved to Battle Lake, MN, where Thelma graduated from high school in 1942.

After graduation, Thelma traveled to Minneapolis where she worked as a waitress. She then moved to Breckenridge, MN, where she met her future husband, Victor Buth. They were married on July 15, 1953 and had four daughters; Diane, Donna, Sharon, and Pamela.

In 1964, Victor and Thelma moved their family to Fosston, MN, and purchased a clothing business they named, "Vic's Clothing". Thelma, a talented seamstress, helped out in the store, and busied herself as an excellent homemaker and mother. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, golfing, and various church and volunteer activities. In 1971, Victor and Thelma expanded their family with one more daughter, Jennifer.
Victor and Thelma lived in Fosston until 1989; spent the next 17 years traveling between Detroit Lakes, MN (in the summer months) and Pharr, TX (in the winter); then, relocated permanently to Omaha, NE, in 2003 to be near family. Victor passed away in 2008, and Thelma remained in Omaha. She died there, on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the age of 87. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Thelma was preceded in death by husband, Victor; an infant daughter, Donna; sisters, Vera, Sarah, and Clara; and brothers, Reino, Etzel and Edward. Thelma is survived by two brothers, Erwin and Marvin Anderson; three sisters-in-law, Jean, Alice, and Juanita Anderson; daughters, Diane (James) McFarlane of Omaha, Sharon (Brad) Johnson of Omaha, Pam (Jeff) Erickson of West Fargo, ND, and Jennifer (Brandon) Bell of Omaha; five grandchildren, Chad (Tammy) Johnson, Angie (Nick) Delaney, Robin (Casey) Bergsagel, McCartney and McAlister Bell; one great-grandson, Isaac Johnson; and two grand-dogs, Maxamillion and Dusty.
