Theodore "Ted" A. Kolegraf Jr., 84, West Fargo, ND, died Friday, March 19, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, South University, Fargo, ND.
Theodore Albert Kolegraf Jr. was born February 10, 1920, near Hope, ND, to Theodore and Irene Kolegraf. Ted was raised in the Hope area where he graduated from high school. Ted graduated from NDSCS, Wahpeton, ND. While there, Ted set the ND state record for the one mile run in track and field competition. The record held for nineteen years.
Ted entered the US Army in November 1942. He served in France and England during WW II and was honorably discharged in December 1945. He returned to the Hope area where he married Marjorie L. Martin on May 26, 1949. They lived in Hope where Ted worked for the Hope Pioneer. He later purchased the Hope Pioneer and served as editor.
In 1963, the family moved to Cooperstown, ND, where Ted worked for the Griggs County Sentinel Courier. He retired from the Courier in 1985 and opened his own business, Ted's Print Shop, in Cooperstown. He operated that business until 1989, and they moved to West Fargo in 1993.
Ted is survived by his wife, Marjorie, West Fargo; one son, Kim (Debbie) Kolegraf, Bismarck, ND; two daughters, Linda (Marvin) Elsaas, Fergus Falls, MN, and Dawn (John) Reierson, Perley, MN; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Jeremy, Deanna, Alison, Damion, Nathan and Brodie; three great-granddaughters, Courtney, Cassidy and Tessa; one brother, James Kolegraf, Sharon, PA; and three sisters, Eileen Polhamus, Seattle, WA, Corrine Croffutt, Fort Pierce, FL, and Gwen (Harry) Barth, Yakima, WA. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elva Udell; and two brothers, Richard and Sheldon Kolegraf.
